Complications but We Still made it Work

On the last day of my class I did run into some complications. From what I was told it was because the previous class still was working on their project because they did not have a chance to complete it.
While we waited my partner and I went back on the set to record our 1:30 stand up. This was very quick and easy because all we had to say was our names and where we were reporting from. That was a piece of cake.
The complication that we ran into was that most of the interviews that we recorded was on a flip cam. We later found out that another student checked out this flip cam, which had our work on it. With this it held up our process in completing our work, which we resolved after speaking to our instructor.

Voice Overs are Fun

Doing the voice over’s for my video was fun. I normally don’t like the way I sound on tape, but this time around I put on my professional voice and it worked.

After getting help from my instructor Rachel, my script made a whole lot of sense. She helped me by adding different facts about fraternities and sororities that I did not know about.

After she helped me I went into one of the recording booth and recorded my voice like 8 times. This was only because I was trying to perfect it and have a variety to choose from. I think recording my voice was the easiest part of this class because I was able to set the tone.

Getting to know the Greeks on the Set

Today’s class was not as bad as last week because my partner and I were able to work efficiently in completing our video footages for our 1:30 standup. We went back on the set and got great footages of the Omegas doing their stroll, which was really nice because we were able to get the footage from up above.

We also got to speak to some Alphas and other Omegas and got their feed back on how they enhance our school and community. Both of their answers in my opinion were very good because it lets me know that them doing community service is something that they feel obligated to do. This important because it shows that they are not just people that step and hand out all day because they think their cool. It shows that they also have values.

Learning to Work with Others

Learning to work with others was something I had to learn during my third meeting in my Camera Edit class. During this meeting we learned how to work the big fancy cameras.
But before all of that happened my partner was running a little late and another one of my classmates wanted to work with me. I would like to think that I am pretty easy to get along with. But that day I really thought there was something wrong with me. Because this classmate was the very bossy “its my way or no way” type.
First of, she was hogging the camera, which caused me not to learn how to work the different functions on the camera. When my original partner showed up, this classmate wanted to change the original plan that we had for our 1:30 story to her story idea. From that moment we realized that we were going to have a hard time working with her. Despite her attitude towards us we still remained respectful and kept our feelings and comments to ourselves in order to keep the piece.
At the end of the day someone from our class told me that she was saying negative things about me and my partner. This made me laugh because it was so petty.

Tallahassee Film Festival Volunteer Experience

Having the opportunity to be an event greeter at the Tallahassee Film Festival was a very interesting experience. I actually had a great time meeting and greeting everyone that came into Hotel Duval.
I had the chance to take pictures on the red carpet with some of the other greeters and with both Kim and Laura Downey, the event coordinators.
My responsibility was to greet and welcome everyone as they came in from the valet area of the hotel or as they left the restroom. I had to engage in small conversations with them by asking them their opinion on the film that was viewed that day called “Small Town Murderer.”
I got a lot of uncertain reviews from some of the people that did get a chance to see this movie. Most people said it was very dark because of the killing. One lady’s reaction was, “It was a great movie, I loved it. But! It was a little too intense.” This response was very similar to some of the other attendees that saw the film.

As everyone made their way up to Level 8 in Hotel Duval, I had a chance to mingle with some of the guest and the filmmakers. I also got to shake hands with Tim (not sure of his last name) a talent scout for Disney that was also in attendance. I did not realize whom he was until one the photographers came up to me and told me.

In all I had a great time volunteering as a greeter. Only thing that I regret was not having any business cards to pass out. After speaking to Downey she made me realize that I could have brought some with me. This was a lesson learned.
